The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, [j] ' for she was taken out of man." For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Genesis 2:23-25, NIV

This page is designed with your special wedding day in mind and gives you a glimpse of what to expect of the church and yourself. It is important for all persons wishing to schedule a wedding at Mount Hope Baptist to read the following wedding policy guidelines and agree to abide by them.

I. A Wedding at MHBC is a Sacred Ceremony

Here at MHBC, we take seriously the sacred vow of holy matrimony. We feel one should not enter this commitment naïve. Therefore, Pastor Prince requires a minimum of three (2), premarital counseling sessions between the bride and the groom.

Sanctuary Weddings

Weddings may be held in any setting, however, the choice of the Sanctuary is the most desired location and has some very distinct implications, including protection from inclement weather conditions.

We are a community church. Therefore our policy applies whether individuals are members of MHBC or nonmembers. They also apply whether the wedding is a large gathering or a small event attended by the immediate family.

II. Getting Married at MHBC and Scheduling Your Wedding

If you are planning to exchange vows at MHBC in Prince George's County, we offer extremely affordable wedding solutions to the entire Tri-Cities including military personnel at Fort Lee, Virginia.

You will want to plan your wedding as early as possible so that the use of the church is arranged without conflict. A general rule of thumb to secure your wedding date is three to six months in advance. Pastor Prince officiate all church weddings.

The wedding date is set in consultation with the Pastor and Church Wedding Planner upon completion of your premarital counseling with Pastor Prince. If you wish to wed, contact the church at (804) 541-0921 or email hope@mounthopebaptist.org, Attn: Wedding Planner and they will be in contact soon thereafter with wedding date availability.

The Church Hostess will issue you a Church Request Form that must be returned to the Hostess within two weeks of issue, with your deposit. Failure to return the request form within this time frame will result in your not being allowed the use of the church. The deposit is refundable up to 90 days before the wedding and/or before any meetings are held with the minister, church organization or the Church Hostess.

At your request, our church provides the services of a trained and competent Hostess to assist you at the time of your special day. The Hostess will assist you with wedding plans, and arrangements inside the church. Your contact with the church will be through the Hostess. They will provide guidance in all aspects of your wedding. If the wedding party has their own wedding coordinator, the church hostess or wedding planner can be waived.

III. The Wedding Checklist

In addition to setting your wedding date and securing the church and minister to officiate, your wedding checklist should include the marriage license, bridal registry, stylist appointment, special wedding jewelry, the maid of honor and best man, bridesmaids, groomsmen, wedding dress fitting and pick up, tuxedo fittings and pick up, wedding photographer, wedding videographer, wedding invitations, wedding decor, runner, wedding flowers, unity candle, wedding rings, the wedding cake, wedding reception particulars and musicians if applicable.

This wedding checklist is not an exhaustive listing. It only highlights the most crucial issues involved and should be monitored weekly leading to your big day. In addition to planning your wedding day, you should also pray for your wedding that it will be blessed by God.

III. The Bridal Registry

Macy's, JC Penney, Kohl's, Stein Mart, Borders Books, Pier One Imports, Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Bed Bath and Beyond, and nontraditional venues such as Victoria Secret, restaurants and pottery shops are all appropriate bridal registry establishments.

Your wedding day is your special day to turn heads, look radiant, ravishing and all the rage. From Pastor Prince and our entire church family, congratulations on your wedding day and we hope you will allow us to assist you with your wedding planning needs.
